About the Consortium for Foundation Mathematics

The Consortium for Foundation Mathematics consists of fourteen faculty, primarily from the State University of New York and the City University of New York systems. The author team used the AMATYC Crossroads standards to develop this two-book series to serve a very large population of college students, who, for whatever reason, have not yet succeeded in learning mathematics. It became apparent to us that teaching the same content in the same way to students who have not previously comprehended it is not effective, and this realization motivated us to develop a new approach.
